civic archaeological museum of palazzo bombardieri
The Civic Archaeological Museum of Palazzo Bombardieri can be found in Rocca di Rosignano Maritime, in the province of Livorno. It was built in 1957 and subsequently expanded with materials from local excavations and completely riallestito in 1996. The creation of display area has been studied on the basis of historical and topographical doing traces the history of various settlements from prehistory to the Middle Ages. The areas of interest depart from high Val di Cecina, the necropolis of Castiglioncello and Vada, the archaeological area of San Gaetano of Vada and the many Roman villas that had occupied the plains along the coast in Roman times. In facility are also objects of underwater archaeology that have been made along the coast. The exhibition shows is used mainly for an educational purpose, through some reconstructions, models and some multimedia tools.
